FACTORS CAUSING DISPUTE IN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY: CONTRACTORS’ PERSPECTIVES

Construction dispute contributing to the involvement of billions US dollars in lawsuits and Asia was reported as continent that had highest involved. Sarawak, largest state Malaysia, faced similar issues such been leading cost time overrun on multiple large-scale construction projects. This research investigates factors causing within Sarawak industry, by targeting G7 contractors, who has no limitation handling scale project, using simple random sampling method. Eighty-six contractors responded online questionnaire, amounting 34% valid response rate. Descriptive statistics Mann-Whitney U-test were used investigate viewpoint respondents. The findings revealed delay issue key cause Sarawak. showed statistical significant differences perspectives between less than or equal 10 years working experiences more four causes: poor management, finance issue, different interpretation contract provisions. could serve a guideline for improve companies’ profit margin projects’ efficiency.
